The Meaning of Love

What is love? What does it mean in our lives? We all seem to come to our own understanding of love as we mature into adulthood, and that understanding changes and evolves as we do, so what does it mean to you right now?The Greeks broke love down for us into categories: Eros, or sexual love; Philios, or love of friends, love in return for love; And Agape, or unconditional love, the love of God for humanity.
Then there is the idea that love is intertwined with death. Andre Breton, in The Lost Steps tells us, "Pardon me for thinking that, unlike ivy, I die when I become attached." And Albert Camus: "Love demands the impossible, the absolute, the sky on fire, inexhaustible springtime, life after death, and death itself transfigured into eternal life."
